DR BOB BRENNER

  

   Dr Bob Brenner attended the University of Maryland as an undergraduate and earned his V.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He opened the Brenner Animal Hospital in Laurel in 1964. The practice outgrew its first three locations and moved to its present site in 1985. In 1973, it became only the third hospital in the State of Maryland to be certified by the prestigeous American Animal Hospital Association (AHAA). The hospital has maintained this certification at AHAA's highest level continuously for twenty seven years.

   In 1975 Dr Brenner opened the Columbia Animal Hospital in Columbia, MD.  In 1979 he formed the Beltway Emergency/ Specialty Animal Hospital in P.G. County and served as its president for ten years.  Dr. Brenner has designed six veterinary hospitals  and had his hospital design for the current Brenner Animal Hospital  chosen as one of the top twelve veterinary hospital designs in the U.S. by Veterinary Economics .

    Dr. Brenner also served as a volunteer veterinarian at the National Aquarium in Baltimore in 1993 and 1994. From 1984 through 1998,  Dr. Brenner became "Dr. Bob" , the T.V. vet, and toured the U.S. He was seen or heard on over 300 T.V. and radio shows coast to coast including an interview with Oprah. From 1996 to 1998, he served on the board of directors of the veterinary technicians program at Essex Community College.

   When not wearing the cap of Dr. Brenner, he has been seen on the stages of Arena Stage, Olney Theatre, Studio Theatre, Constition Hall and other theatres as Bob Brenner the actor. Bob has acted in or directed over 100 productions from Philadelphia to Key West, Florida. Most recently, he conceived, directed, and starred as John Adams in a production of the musical "1776" with the Washington Symphony Orchestra at Constitution Hall. This production also starred Senator Fred Thompson of Tennessee, the honorable Tom Foley (former speaker of the House of Representatives), and seven other U.S. senators and congressmen.

    When not taking care of patients or appearing on stage, Bob is an avid golfer and landscaper. he has been club champion at Norbeck C.C. twice. His home was chosen the grand prize winner for ornamental landscape design by the Landscape Contactors Association of Metropolitan  Washington.

    At home, Bob and his wife Mary Jo, a teacher at Paint Branch High School, care for three dogs, five cats, two birds, and fifty Japenese Koi, all strays.

 

DR.  BOBBIE MAMMATO

Dr. Bobbie Mammato received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University. She completed an internship in emergency and critical care medicine and received a Masters in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Mammato has worked for ten years in a variety of clinical settings, including the ASPCA in New York. In 1998 and 1999 she worked for the US Food and Drug Administration's Center for Veterinary Medicine.

She is the author of "Pet First Aid: Cats and Dogs" (Mosby 1997), written on behalf of the American Red Cross and the Humane Society of the United States. From June 1999 to November 2000, she was staff veterinarian for Pets.com, and the author of two weekly columns on first aid and pets and the family.

Dr. Mammato  has worked at Brenner Animal Hospital since 1995. She is married with two children and a menagerie of pets. She continues to work as an author and speaker on pet/family issues.

 

DR. GENE BAUER

Dr. Gene BauerDr. Gene Bauer attended Virginia Tech while completing his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and remained in Blacksburg to earn his DVM from the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Bauer worked for two years as an associate veterinarian at a small animal practice in Virginia before joining the staff at the Brenner Animal Hospital. 

Gene enjoys golfing, fly-fishing, hiking, and camping.  Dr. Bauer shares his home with his Border Collie, Bob, and two cats.
